Keystone Region Athletes Shine at HP Championships
Congratulations to our 20 athletes and 4 coaches who represented the Keystone Region and State of Pennsylvania at the USAV HP Championships held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, July 21-25. KRVA sent both a Select Team and Youth Team to compete in the prestigious 5-day event.
In our first year of participation, our Select Team went undefeated in 7 matches in a field of 24 teams until their loss to S. California in the Finals Match - 25-27, 21-25, 20-25. Defeated teams included Badger Region, Iowa Region, Aloha Region, Ohio Valley Region, Oklahoma Region, Florida Region, and US Continental Select White. As a result of their success, the Keystone Region will have the choice next year of competing in either the Youth National Division or the Youth International Division.
Our Youth Team competed well but finished the week with a 0-6 record in pool play. However, the team went on to achieve a very competitive and satisfying win against Aloha Region in their Flight 1 Finals match.
Overall, this is a great start for the Keystone Region HP program. The athletes, coaches, and families all had a very enjoyable and memorable experience. Athletes are already talking about next year which will be held in Knoxville, TN. Go KRVA!
