If there’s a problem in the Keystone Region, chances are Valerie Podczasy has already solved it — probably in a way no one else would have thought of. Known among her peers as the Region’s “Chaos Coordinator,” Valerie laughs as she describes her role: “I solve problems you never knew existed in ways that will blow your mind. As the manager overseeing events, memberships, and clubs, Valerie plays a crucial part in keeping the Keystone Region Volleyball Association running smoothly. Her knack for organization and creative problem-solving is matched only by her passion for the sport — one that runs in the family. “Both my parents played volleyball,” she says. “I grew up around it, and it’s always been part of who I am.”

When asked what volleyball has taught her, Valerie doesn’t hesitate: “Prove them wrong.” That mindset, forged through years of competition and leadership, drives her not only in the gym but in every challenge she faces.
For Valerie, the most rewarding part of working with KRVA is the collaboration. “I love working with all the members, clubs, and officials to make volleyball better for our region,” she shares. Her advice for athletes, parents, and coaches is simple but powerful: “Ask lots of questions — we’re here to help.”
Her own volleyball journey has taken her far, including the chance to compete at the Division I level in college — an experience she calls one of her most memorable moments.
“Volleyball became more than a sport to me. Every practice, every point, every mistake showed me something about who I was and who I wanted to be. It’s taught me to value teamwork, to stay calm under pressure, to speak up when it matters, to recover from failure, and to keep showing up even when it’s hard. I learned that mistakes don’t define you, how you respond does. When you step onto the court, you’re not just playing a game. You learning to show up, give your best, and keep going, no matter what. Volleyball didn’t just shape me as an athlete; it shaped me as a person.”
