Setter Aubrey Ward started playing volleyball in fifth grade on her local CYO team. This quickly lead to a love for the game which she will continue next year at Rowan University. Her club coach of four years cites Aubrey as a natural leader as she served as Team Captain for four years. Aubrey will study Biology in college with the hopes of becoming a Physician’s Assistant in the future.

How did you get started with volleyball? In fifth grade, my friend asked me to play CYO volleyball with her. I’ve loved the sport ever since.

Who is your most influential role model and why? My parents have always been my greatest influences and role models. Their constant support and unwavering belief in me have pushed me to become the best version of myself, both on and off the court.

Do you have a favorite tournament experience? I’ve always loved the Capital Hill tournament. I still remember my first time going my 12U year and being surprised how big the tournament was.

What’s your pre-game routine? Slick back my hair, warm up listening to music, and visualize how I want the game to go.

What’s a skill you are currently working on improving? I’m always working to improve my game, but my top priority right now is my defense.

What exercises do you do to build core strength? My go to is either weighted Russian twists or planks.

How do you balance your social life with your volleyball commitments? Being a student athlete, I have learned to balance volleyball and my social life by staying organized and having a weekly calendar.

What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I’ve hiked close to half of the U.S. National Parks. My goal is to visit all 63!

What are three activities you enjoy outside of volleyball? Outside of volleyball I enjoy hiking, reading, and traveling.
