There are many options and organizations for your child to play club volleyball, and the challenge can be sorting through all those options. Playing club volleyball in the Keystone Region offers many advantages that other organizations cannot. Below is a list of some of the top reasons for playing club volleyball in the Keystone Region.
Where are the tournaments located? KRVA-sanctioned tournaments are located across the state of Pennsylvania. Some are located in local facilities (high schools, sports plexes), and many tournaments are held at larger venues (convention centers, etc.)
At what age can a child start playing club volleyball? Many KRVA clubs have 10u and 11u teams, but it is always a great time to start playing club volleyball.
How do I know which age group my child should play in? Use the USA Volleyball Junior Age Definition Chart to determine which age group is right for your child.
How do I find clubs near me? Check out the Find a Club page.
How do I find out the information about each tournament, like the address and what time the games start? Each KRVA-sanctioned tournament can be found on the events tab. If an event is not listed on the tournament link, it is not an KRVA-run event. Tournament-specific emails are sent to those who sign up for each tournament mailing list.
What does a typical tournament look like / how long are the days? The KRVA sanctions one and two-day tournaments with a variety of playing schedules. Most times, you can expect tournaments to start at 8 am (check the tournament page and verify with your coach)
Are there admission fees to get into tournaments? Many tournaments issue a spectator fee and sometimes credit card fees can be added to the admission cost.
Can a boy play on a girls’ club team? The KRVA supports younger athletes having the opportunity to play volleyball, especially in communities where boys volleyball might not be as popular (see Boys on Girls Team policy approved by KRVA BOD)
Does my child get to help officiate matches? A unique experience of Junior’s volleyball is the ability to help officiate other matches during the tournament. It is customary for teams to provide “work teams,” composed of second referee, line judges, scorer, and libero trackers during their assigned work matches. This is a vital component of tournament functionality and a great experience for juniors to grow personal and professional skills within the sport.
